Hello, I’m Alexandra (Alex), the founder of Fat Soaps, a small business born from passion, family, and a commitment to natural, nourishing skincare. While I lead the charge, I’m grateful for the unwavering support of my loving husband and our children, who inspired this journey from the very beginning.

Fat Soaps began with a simple ingredient: bacon. Our family’s love for bacon left us with an abundance of rendered lard, sparking a creative solution to put it to good use. After experimenting with soapmaking, I discovered that lard-based soap left my dry skin feeling remarkably soft and hydrated. This revelation ignited a passion for crafting natural, skin-loving soaps and led me to explore other nourishing oils, such as olive and coconut, to enhance our formulations.

Our journey took a deeper turn when my daughter struggled with persistently dry, itchy skin. Despite trying nearly every lotion on the market and even seeking medical advice, nothing provided lasting relief. A friend introduced me to tallow balm, and I dove into researching its benefits. Since I already had animal fats on hand from soapmaking, I began experimenting with tallow-based balms. After carefully selecting carrier oils, we found that jojoba oil paired beautifully with tallow, creating a deeply moisturizing balm that finally soothed my daughter’s skin. This discovery sparked a love for whipped tallow balms, which have become a cornerstone of our product line.

At Fat Soaps, we’re dedicated to keeping things simple and authentic. Our soaps and balms are crafted with natural ingredients, free from synthetic fragrances, and scented exclusively with essential oils for a gentle, aromatic experience. We prioritize transparency, ensuring our ingredient lists are short, recognizable, and easy to understand—no Google searches required.
